Laser Hair Reduction Pre Care Advice

Following all these instructions will maximize your treatment results:

​

  • Closely shave the treatment area the day before your appointment.

​

  • Only shave the treatment area/s during your course of treatment/s no plucking, waxing, bleaching, threading or any method of hair removal that will pull the hair out by the root. The hair must remain intact under the skin.

​

  • Arrive to your appointment with clean skin; do not apply lotions, creams, or deodorant for the 24 hrs before the treatment, tan remover should not be used for at least 2 weeks before the treatment. 

​

  • Use if tanning beds, self-tanning lotions, creams, and sun exposure on the area to be treated must be avoided 3 weeks prior to treatment. This is extremely important to avoid blistering and potential scarring. 

​

  • Wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or more on the treatment area every day for the duration of your treatment process.

​

  • If you are now or at any times during your treatment process orally or topically using photosensitive medication (antibiotics, St Johns Wart, Accutane) please inform us immediately. You must be off these drugs for 10 days to 6 months depending on the drug before treatment can start/continue.

​

  • Avoid aspirin and aspirin containing products for 2 days prior to treatment.

​

  • Avoid Retin A, Retinals, Glycolic’s and Salicylic on the treatment area 3 days prior to treatment.

​

  • Wear loose fitting clothing on the day.

​

Laser Hair Reduction Post Care Advice

​Following all these instructions will maximise your treatment results:

​

  • You may notice redness, mild swelling, mild itching/burning sensation for a few minutes and up to 48hrs after the treatment.

​

  • Pigmentation changes may appear after the treatment, changes will normalise in a few weeks.

​

  • If needed you may use a cool compresses on the treatment area for the first few hours after your treatment.

​

  • Aloe Vera gel can be applied to sooth the area if needed.

​

  • Wear a broad spectrum SPF30 or more on the treatment area every day for the duration of your treatment if the area will be exposed to sunlight. 

​

  • Avoid sweating, saunas, swimming pools, hot showers, hot tubs, lakes or ocean water for 24hrs after your treatment.

​

  • Avoid sun exposure to the treatment area during the treatment process.

​

  • If treating the bikini area avoid any friction or chaffing for 24-48hrs post treatment.

​

  • Use cool water, gentle cleanser and a soft cloth to cleanse the treatment area for 24-48hrs post treatment.

​

  • Avoid exfoliating scrubs, brushes for 24-48hrs post treatment.

​

  • If you are treating over freckled or pigmented areas you may notice these areas get darker within the first couple of days. This is normal and should not cause concern. Do not scrub off, these areas will flake off within 1-2 weeks.

​

  • Times between treatments are 4-6 weeks for Laser Hair removal.

​

  • Lip procedures may stimulate the herpes virus (cold sores) especially if you are prone to outbreaks these can be treated with Zovirax.
